Bishop Stresses Attributes Of Motherhood

The Catholic Bishop of Warri, the. Rev. Richard Burke, has urged mothers in the country to imbibe good attributes of motherhood.

In a service to mark Mothers’ Day at the Holy Family Catholic, Edjeba, Warri South Local Government Area of Delta, on Sunday, Burke said motherhood vocation was for life.

He explained that motherhood was dear to God and for that, mothers should endeavour to be upright in their everyday endeavours.Burke advised mothers to “shun the sins of adultery as the sin condemns both the man and the woman involved to death.’’

He said Biblical quotations concerning chastisement, especially the body being the temple of the Holy Spirit should be religiously guarded. The bishop said that in the sacrament of reconciliation, any of them that had sinned should ask God for forgiveness since the story of Mary Magdalene showed that Christ condemned sin not sinners.

He congratulated mothers on the World Mothers’ Day, saying “you have the gratitude and joy of giving birth and on the other hand, the anxiety of bringing forth’’. “You should appreciate the laudable gift you have, a gift of life,’’ he added.

He prayed for couples who were yet to have children and urged them to be patient and embrace love and understanding.
