Pray for Milingo, Urges Bishop

ZAMBIA Episcopal Conference (ZEC) President, George Lungu has appealed to St John the Baptist brothers to pray for the excommunicated Roman Catholic Archbishop Emmanuel Milingo.

Archbishop Milingo is the founder of St John the Baptist, a congregation for the Roman Catholic brothers of the Chipata Diocese.

Speaking during the vows of brothers at Mphangwe Prayer Centre in Katete District on Tuesday, Bishop Lungu said although the archbishop 'sinned' against the Catholic Church, he was supposed to be prayed for by the brothers congregation.

The prelate who is Chipata Catholic Diocese Bishop said Archbishop Milingo should be offered in prayers in order for him to realise the wrong things he committed when he was in the Catholic Church.

He told hundreds of parishioners that Archbishop Milingo had no intention to leave the church but was tempted by Satan.

"You St John the Baptist brothers, you should assist Archbishop Milingo in prayers because he is the one who founded this congregation for you here in Chipata diocese," Bishop Lungu said.

He said he was aware that the archbishop could not return to the Catholic Church hence, the need to offer him in prayers.

Archbishop Milingo who was in Zambia last month, was excommunicated from the Roman Catholic Church following his breaking of the celibacy life by marrying Korean wife, Maria Sung.
