CofE appoints new ecumenical head

The Church of England has named Canon Jeremy Worthen as its new head of ecumenical relations.

Canon Worthen will become Secretary for Ecumenical Relations and Theology at the Council for Christian Unity next year.

The new role, which is based at Church House in Westminster, combines those of the Secretary to the Council for Christian Unity and theological adviser to the House of Bishops.

Since 2005 Dr Wothern has been principal of the South East Institute for Theological Education (SEITE), which is linked with a Catholic seminary in the Netherlands.

He has also served on the Church's English Anglican-Roman Catholic Committee.
